In this class, you will pick up where the basic course left off, with a continuation and refinement in techniques and "tricks-of-the-trade". New information will be presented by each instructor in an exciting and knowledgeable manner with a slant towards their specialty. You will learn the steps needed to make your engravings jump out from the metal and come alive with detail!
This intensive practical course, given by Alexander Sidorov, in which advanced visual techniques are used, gives the opportunity to learn the different steps in this setting process. Starting with basic hand engraving, from simple shapes to more complex ones, the students starts to educate his hand.
The basics in on how to prepare the jewel and calculate the stones, distances, designs are key factors for further steps involving the drill and the fraising of wholes and cleaning the setting area. In order to deliver a perfect setting, every step must be executed with precision, experience will bring in these future setters the element of speed they will need in this demanding market. All main setting types are taught with a special accent to pave setting.
Finally, the program is added with a module of Gemology for Setters. This chapter will be determining for experienced students. Our method is making this profession available for any motivated candidate with a minimum of skill.
The three month teaching period will guarantee the knowledge needed to acquire, through practice, top quality optical stone setting.
This workshop will offer the next level in training for those who have previously attended a Basic Stone Setting Class. Alexander will teach according to the student’s requests. The only prerequisite for this seminar is to have completed Mister Sidorov’s Basic Stone Setting Class or receive personal approval from Mister Sidorov.
